Headies 2016: See Full List Of Winners

 
The 2016 Headies awards, which had several top acts not showing up, has finally come to an end.
Nollywood actress, Adesua Etomi, and artiste, Falz, anchored the award show, which ended end in the early hours of Friday.

The show which took place at Eko Convention Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, yesterday, December 22, 2016,  saw Kiss Daniel, clinch three awards out of the five categories he was nominated in while Wizkid won the Artist of the Year.

Facebook accused over WhatsApp takeover

 
Facebook has been accused by the European Commission of misleading it during its investigation of Facebook's 2014 takeover of WhatsApp.

The Commission says Facebook misled it when the company said it was impossible to match users' Facebook and WhatsApp accounts.

BREAKING: Senate Rejects Magu As EFCC Chairman

The Senate has rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari, citing security report.

The Senate’s spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi, revealed this on Thursday afternoon after the Senators had spent over one hour behind closed doors discussing the matter of Magu’s confirmation.

Gambia Decides: President Jammeh loses election to former security guard, Adama Barrow, after 22 years in power

Adama Narrow (pictured right) has been declared winner of Gambia Presidential election after defeating President Yahya Jammeh, who has been in power since 1994.

Adama garnered who was a former security guard 263,515 votes while Jammeh won 212,090 votes, Alieu Momar Njie, head of electoral commission announced in the capital Banjul on Friday.
Barrow, a property developer, will become the county's third head of state since independence in 1962. He once worked as a security guard at a branch of Argos in London.

The Blues insisted an offer may be forthcoming, and it arrived this week.

Brazil Senate Votes To Impeach President Rousseff


President Rousseff has been suspended from office and will face an impeachment trial, following a vote by Brazil's senate.
The vote was widely expected and went 55-22 in favour of putting the country's first woman president on trial.
She is accused of lying to voters about the level of the country's debt during her re-election campaign.

HR Desk: The 10 top-paying companies in the UK revealed


The UK’s top-paying companies have been revealed, with just three industries represented in the list.
Banking, consulting and tech are the industries with the highest paid workers according to the Glassdoor study, with staff offered a median total compensation package between £73,000 and £90,000.
Of the top ten companies only one is headquartered in London.
Glassdoor’s Chief Economist, Dr Andrew Chamberlain said the top companies reflected the modern need for niche skilled workers.

‘It’s difficult to do business in Nigeria in 2016 than in 2015’ – World Bank

It is difficult to do business in Nigeria in 2016 than it was in 2015, the World Bank ‘Doing Business Report’ opines.
However, the report also states that Nigeria moved up a spot from its position last year, in the ‘ease of doing business’ ranking.
Out of 189 countries surveyed, Nigeria ranked at 169th with an ‘ease of doing business’ score of 44.69 percent, a step higher than the 170th position the country occupied in 2015.
