Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan have topped the list of the 50 most generous Americans in 2013, according to a report released Monday by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. The pair donated 18 million shares of Facebook, valued at about $992.2 million, to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation in San Mateo. Though the Facebook co-founder was also recently named the highest paid U.S. CEO of 2012, so giving away close to $1 billion barely made a dent in Zuckerberg's net worth.

The Facebook couple are also the two youngest people on the most generous list, the LA Times reported. Zuckerberg is 29 years old and Chan is 28, which also marks the first time anyone under the age of 30 have topped the list. The median age of the group is 72.5 with only seven on the list younger than 50.

Late last year it was revealed that Zuckerberg was the highest paid U.S. CEO of 2012, earning twice as much as the second highest paid CEO. Zuckerberg took home nearly $2.3 billion in total compensation, while the next highest earning CEO, Richard Kinder, received a total compensation of $1.1 billion. Zuckerberg's net worth is estimated to be $19 billion, allowing for his generous donation.

Zuckerberg and Chan gave close to $1 billion to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which provides aid to low-income families to prevent foreclosure, funds teacher training and after-school programs, and supports immigrants with English lessons and legal services. Zuckerberg did not specify which programs would benefit from the latest gift but said their donation would focus on children. The Facebook duo also made the Chronicle's 2012 list, donating the same amount of Facebook shares, worth $498.8 million, to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The pair came in second behind Warren Buffet's $3.1 billion donation.

The 50 biggest U.S. donors gave away about $7.7 billion in 2013, which was 4 percent more than in the previous year. Other donors from the tech world include Google co-founder Sergey Brin and wife Anne Wojcicki in ninth place with a $219 million donation and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 11th place with a $206 million donation.
