Shekarau left the APC he and others formed because he doesn't want the governor of Kano to be the party's leader in the state. But his action has been described as a selfish one by his core supporters.
"We are not leaving the APC to any political party, we will not be part of the political realignment going on at home where our leader, Shekarau, has defected to the PDP on Wednesday."
Ten members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have
disowned Shekarau for defecting to the PDP, saying his action is a pure
selfish one and that they will remain with APC.
The lawmakers, who were Shekarau’s loyalists before the latest
development, said they did not support his defection and wondered if the
PDP in Kano do not have a leader that he (Shekarau) will be loyal to.
The Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Sumaila Kawu, who spoke on behalf of the lawmakers, said they were disappointed with Shekarau's decision.
