Photos: Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria, Temitope, Resumes At NYSC Camp In Lagos

Current MBGN Unoaku Temitope Anyadike has resumed camp in Lagos State. She beat 22 other women to win the top rated “Most beautiful girl in Nigeria pageant”. She represented Anambra state and it was her second shot at the crown.
A graduate of University of Ilorin in Kwara state. Unoaku alongside other corpers resumed the three weeks mandatory camp.

Manny Pacquiao beefs up security after being threatened by a terror group in the Philippines

On Wednesday, the president of Philippines, President Benigno Aquino III revealed that both him and boxer Manny Pacquiao were on the hit list of Muslim extremist group, Abu Sayyaf, the same group that beheaded a Canadian hostage earlier this week. The president revealed that the group has made plans to assassinate him and they allegedly even "hatched plots to kidnap Pacquiao or one of his children."

Manny, expressed shock today at the President's claim that the Islamic militants planned to kidnap him or one of his kids. He said he had no idea until the president announced it but has now taking serious security measures to keep him and his  family safe. He also called out the president for not informing him about the plot before going public.

Wow: Baby born on plane named after airline

In 1990, Debbie Owen gave birth on a British Airways flight from Ghana to the UK. She named her daughter Shona Kirsty Yves -- her initials spelling SKY.

Chances are baby boy Saw Jet Star will raise more than a few brows when he's old enough to explain the story behind his unique name.
His mom, who gave birth on Jetstar flight 3K583 from Singapore to Myanmar last week, named the newborn after the airline.
Weighing six pounds and seven ounces, the baby was safely delivered on the plane by a team of three doctors and crew after landing in Yangon on April 22, according to Jetstar Asia's Facebook statement

HR Desk: Sacked airport worker destroys plane with crane


A video has emerged of a disgruntled airport worker destroying a plane after allegedly being fired by his employer.
The footage emerged via video sharing site LiveLeak.com, and shows the employee hacking apart the plane, belonging to Russian jet company UTair, with a crane. The Sun reports that the plane in question, a Yak-40, is worth an estimated £3.5million.
The shocking clip has already been shared thousands of times; however some viewers are more sceptical as to its origins.

Nigerian Professor, Abiodun Alao, Breaks 187yrs Old Record at University of London

A Nigerian academic, Professor Abiodun Alao, will today deliver the inaugural lecture at King’s College, University of London, making him the first black African scholar to deliver such lecture since the institution was established in 1829.

Alao, a professor of African Studies, was conferred with professorial title about 2 years ago alongside his Nigerian counterpart in the institution’s African Leadership Centre, Prof. Funmi Olonisakin, making them first black Africans to attain professorial cadre at the institution since its establishment.

Saudi Arabia isn’t ready to lift the ban on women driving, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman said, adding that it’s not just a matter of ending strictures imposed by the kingdom’s austere form of Islam. Allowing women to drive is not a religious issue as much as it is an issue that relates to the community itself that either accepts it or refuses it, said the 30-year-old son of King Salman.

Johns Hopkins to honor 8 distinguished achievers, including Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Spike Lee

   
Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, United States has announced a list of eight distinguished achievers who will receive honorary degrees this year. The honorary degree will be conferred at the universitywide commencement ceremony on May 18 at Royal Farms Arena. 

The list includes award-winning novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who earned a prestigious creative writing master's from the university,  filmmaker Spike Lee, Nobel Prize winner Richard Axel and Ellen M Heller, Maryland’s first woman to become an administrative Circuit Court judge.

"The men and women in this group are visionaries who have challenged the status quo and changed the world for the better," Said John Hopkins University President Ronald J. Daniels. 9-year-old boy abandoned by his own pays for his own adoption

A nine-year-old boy, Tristan Jacobson, who was abandoned by his biological mother set up a lemonade stand in front of his foster parent’s house so he can raise money for them to adopt him.
Jacobson, was abandoned in freezing weather by his mum who was a prostitute, on the doorstep of a Missouri shelter, when he was just five. His biological father is behind bars for a crime that wasn't mentioned.

Lil Kesh responds to his rumoured departure from Olamide’s YBNL record label

Some days ago, it was reported that Lil Kesh is set to part ways with Olamide's record label as his two year contract with the label had expired. There was also a report that indicated that Lil Kesh is floating a label of his own named 'YAGI' Records and there is no bad blood between him and his former boss. Lil Kesh just confirmed that although the YAGI Record Label rumour is true, YBNL remains his family and management for life.

Olamide has also reacted and released a statement via his Instagram page. What he wrote after below.

Google Cofounders Lose Nearly $4 Billion As Shares Drop Following Alphabet's Earnings Report

Google cofounders Larry Page and Sergey Brin lost a combined $3.8 billion dollars in after-hours trading on Thursday after Alphabet, Google’s parent company, reported its first quarter earnings and missed analysts’ forecasts. Google stock fell more than 5% in after-hours trading.  The pair is currently worth a combined $72.1 billion as of 6:45 p.m. Eastern, down from a combined $75.9 billion as of the market’s close on Thursday.

The dog has been given the label of football's most pampered dog due to the luxury lifestyle provided by Smalling and his glamour model girlfriend, Sam Cooke. The dog regularly flies first class with the player on most of his trips.

Kobe Bryant explains why he hasn’t spoken to his parents in 3 years

Kobe Bryant who played his last NBA game last weekend revealed on ESPN.com that he hadn't spoken to his parents in the last three years.
He said the reason he stopped speaking with them and helping them out was because they auctioned off his High school memorabilia without his consent. He said:
“Our relationship is shit,”. “I say to them, ‘I’m going to buy you a very nice home, and the response is ‘That’s not good enough’?” “Then you’re selling my shit?”
After his parents' lawyers worked out a settlement allowing them to auction six items of Kobe's memorabilia totaling $500,000 in 2013,  his parents issued a statement which read:

World's oldest dog dies peacefully, sleeping in her basket

Maggie the Kelpie, believed to be the world's oldest dog, died while sleeping in her basket on Sunday night.Maggie's owner was an Australian dairy farmer, Brian McLaren. Maggie was 30 years old at the time of her death which is approximately 200 years old in human years.
According to her owner, Maggie had been sick on Friday and died on Sunday.

Saraki's trial at CCT will henceforth be conducted daily- Judge rules

Justice Danladi Umar of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT has ruled that the ongoing trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki will henceforth be conducted daily. At the resumed hearing today April 18th, Justice Danladi Umar based the decision on provisions of sections 376 and 315 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, 2015.
“Let me state it here for both the prosecution and the defence that the trial of the defendant shall proceed on a day-to-day basis till the conclusion of this matter and it will begin from 10am to 6pm”he said
He said the court would on each day of the trial go on break at 1pm and 4pm.
